​Act 82 Special Education Certification

Dear Special Education program providers:

In response to numerous inquiries about the transition from the Special Education Pre-K – 8 and 7-12 certifications to the Special Education PreK – 12 certifications, the Bureau of School Leadership and Teacher Quality is pleased to announce a policy pertaining to graduates of three cohorts:

  • Fall (December/January) 2021
  • Spring (May/June) 2022
  • Fall (December/January) 2022

Policy: These graduates will have 60 days after their graduation to submit an application in the Teacher Information Management System (TIMS). The application submission verifies their intent to pursue certification and grants them at least one-year from the date of submission to complete the application.
