PAsmart Grants
Two funding tiers were made available in 2018-19 and again in 2019-20, each with its own purpose and audience:
Targeted Grants, of up to $35,000 each, are awarded to local education agencies and their schools with limited to no computer science (CS) offerings. These grants are used to train teams of educators on how to implement CS experiences inside and outside their classrooms. No prior CS experience is required. LEAs also can use the grant funding to purchase training, technical assistance, and innovative technologies.

Advancing Grants, of up to $500,000 each, support broad partnerships and innovative solutions for delivering CS/STEM experiences. These grants give regions a chance to leverage or expand CS/STEM ecosystems; to grow partnerships between LEAs, higher education institutions, businesses, early childhood institutions, community groups, and other CS/STEM-focused organizations; to remove barriers and provide access to CS/STEM experiences for historically underserved populations; and to expand the pool of highly qualified CS/STEM educators statewide.
