The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) is pleased to announce the release of the next tool in
The Roadmap for Education Leaders: Creating Equitable School Systems. Resources for
Strategic Staff Deployment is now available on PDE's website to help school entities continue to plan using alternative strategies for assigning educators to best meet students' needs. Schools can mitigate some of these challenges through a multi-classroom teacher staffing model.
These resources do not, and are not intended to, prescribe a specific course of action. This school year presents local education agencies (LEAs) and schools with an opportunity to think strategically about how staff across the system are deployed to accelerate learning, support social and emotional wellness, and ensure connectedness to school for all students. To support school entities with strategic staff deployment, PDE partnered with TNTP (formerly known as The New Teacher Project) and American Institutes for Research to develop:
In the next few weeks, more tools outlined in the
Roadmap for Educational Leaders will be released. These resources will focus on prioritizing grade and content knowledge and standards, as well as tools for diagnostic assessment. We recognize that these tools come as LEAs are in very different stages of planning for school reopening, and that these reopening plans likely include a range of approaches.
