Team PDE –
As of today, 19
counties are under a stay-at-home order and school closures have been extended
through April 6. While these mitigation efforts continue to make our daily
routines look much different than a few weeks ago, they’re put in place to keep
Pennsylvanians safe, home, and healthy.
we’ve been staying home, we haven’t stopped working. This week, PDE launched a
statewide strategic effort, in collaboration with PaTTAN and our 29
intermediate units, to support schools in developing and implementing continuity
of education plans. Staff across PDE played an integral part in making this
possible – your work will help create continued learning opportunities and
experiences for students across the commonwealth.
impactful projects are being coordinated in bureaus, offices, and program areas
across PDE to help ensure those we serve continue to have access to resources
and supports during COVID-19 mitigation efforts. I thank you, and our school
communities thank you.
As we round out
our second week of practicing social distancing, life continues to change and
we’re all adjusting to a new, albeit temporary, normal. If you find yourself
feeling sad, stressed, or lonely, please know that you’re not alone and it's
okay to ask for or seek help – the State Employee
Assistance Program offers a variety of resources. Like many of you, I’m
also a parent and it isn’t necessarily easy finding the right things to say to
my kids about what they’re seeing, hearing, and experiencing. The tips
and resources on our website might help. Let’s continue to support
ourselves and one another as we navigate through this together. After all, we
will get through this, and we will get through this together.
Thank you for
your continued patience, flexibility, innovation, and dedication to serving
schools and communities across Pennsylvania.
