Team PDE –

Your generosity has garnered special recognition from the Office of Administration (OA) – I was recently notified that PDE exceeded its SECA fundraising goal for the 2019 charitable giving campaign! Thank you to all who contributed, including those who gave their time to help facilitate the campaign. Your efforts will impact and support people, communities, and organizations across Pennsylvania and beyond.

Speaking of impact, our partners at the Pennsylvania Department of State are reminding voters that this year’s primary election has been rescheduled to June 2 due to the COVID-19 pandemic – and a new law has made voting more convenient. Under Act 77 of 2019, the deadline to register to vote is now 15 days before an election (it used to be 30 days), and most voters can now request a mail-in ballot without providing a reason. Voters must submit their request for a mail-in ballot to their county election office by 5 PM on May 26, 2020. More information can be found on Pennsylvania’s official VotesPA website.

Speaking of websites, PDE provides school communities with information, guidance, and resources on a specially-designed COVID-19 website. We regularly add and update answers to frequently asked questions on a variety of topics. We post messages sent to school administrators each week. We offer a growing collection of mental health and well-being resources. We provide instructional resources for educators, information on where students and families can access food, a compilation of waivers the department has submitted and received, and much more. If you haven’t already, please take a look: and help share these important resources.

Speaking of important resources, as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and as the commonwealth’s response evolves, please continue to monitor InsidePDE. The COVID-19 area of InsidePDE offers employee-specific information, updates, and resources organized in four sections: HR, IT, budget and procurement, and communications.

Speaking of communications, please make sure you’re regularly connecting with friends and family. If you need help, supports and resources are available 24/7. Remember, we’re going through this together – and we’ll get through this together.
