The
Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network
offers evidence-based webinars and courses, including resources on restorative justice, alternatives to suspension and expulsion, emotional support services and special education practices for general classrooms.
Positive School Climate:
The
National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments
is a federally funded initiative that offers information and technical assistance to states, districts, schools and communities. NCSSLE has developed the School Climate Improvement Resource Package, an online resource center designed to meet a range of needs among stakeholders interested in improving school climate.
The
National School Climate Center
(NSCC) promotes safe, supportive learning environments that nurture social and emotional, civic, and academic growth for all students. NSCC is an independent nonprofit that offers technical assistance to schools and communities. The NSCC website and online resource center provide free and subscription-based tools and resources that can be used to support school climate improvement.
The
School Climate Improvement Toolkit
was produced by School Climate Alliance at Regional Education Laboratory (REL)West. It is designed to help schools, districts, and other education agencies develop a detailed and focused plan for carrying out and monitoring school climate improvement efforts.
The
Alliance for the Study of School Climate
(ASSC) exists to help schools improve the quality of their climate. In addition to conducting on-going research on what creates healthy schools, ASSC provides ideas, resources, and services to schools seeking to examine and improve their effectiveness.

provides policy briefs, program recommendations, and supports evidence-based social and emotional learning as an integral part of education. CASEL's website includes a

to support educators and administrators selected evidence-based SEL programs that meet the needs of their community.
The CDC's
Strategies to Create a Healthy and Supportive School Environment
has resources for school leaders to integrate SEL practices in school.
ARP ESSER Guidance on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)
provides a decision tree for schools to begin planning their use of one-time federal grant funding to provide social-emotional learning.
SEL Best Practice Resources
is a collection of resources on the PDE Safe Schools web page.
Pennsylvania Career Ready Skills
provides social emotional learning progressions that support development of student competence.
Trauma-Informed Practices:
National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments
provides a training package for building trauma-sensitive schools from the U.S. Department of Education.
Model Trauma-Informed Approach Plan: Guidelines for School Entities
from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency provides guidelines for developing trauma-informed plans specific to schools.
Trauma-Informed PA: A Plan to Make Pennsylvania a Trauma-Informed, Healing-Centered State
is a plan released in 2020 from the Office of Advocacy and Reform in the Office of the Governor that outlines how to plan and take action to move toward a healing-centered state.
HEAL Pa
is a multisectoral and multidisciplinary coalition developed and sponsored by the Governor's Office of Advocacy and Reform. HEAL PA provides resources, training, and information on building trauma-informed systems.
Handle With Care training (IU 21) is an example of a community partnership (Resilient Lehigh Valley) that demonstrates the interaction of law enforcement in school systems to support students in a trauma-informed manner.
