Research and Evaluation
The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Evaluation and Research project is an effort to begin answering questions which will lead to policy and program decisions that can improve student outcomes for the future.
Purpose of Evaluation and Research
- To facilitate analyses of P-16+ system data, meaningfully collaborate on education research, and research findings to improve experiences for all students
- Provide researchers greater opportunity to offer analysis for education outcomes based on data from the commonwealth’s statewide longitudinal data system
- Publish a list of research questions based on priorities and urgent needs of education
Key Components
- A state-level Research Agenda focused on priorities that affect student outcomes
- Collaboration and partnerships with education research organizations
- A PDE Research Team to increase the department’s capacity to address research needs
- Published research findings
- Sharing research findings with those who drive policy and program change
